To make this Hamburger Steak recipe you'll need the following ingredients:

Ingredients for a steak burger

  • Hamburger Steaks
  • 2 Tablespoons of the olive oil
  • 1 ½ lb. ground beef, (85% lean)
  • 4 Tablespoons of the frozen butter
  • ½ cup of yellow the onion, very finely minced
  • 2 teaspoons of yellow mustard
  • 3 teaspoons of Worcestershire
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt/Pepper

Gravy for Steak Hamburger

  • 2 yellow onions, sliced into ¾-inch strings
  • 3 Tablespoons of cold unsalted butter, separated
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup of cold water + 3 tablespoons corn starch

Follow these directions to prepare this easy Hamburger Steak:

First, Prepare the Steaks

Shred the frozen butter. And gently combine the minced onions, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, butter, garlic, and the meat. Then don’t overwork the meat or it will make the steaks tough.

Then, form into evenly sides oval steaks. And refrigerate for 14 minutes. Then remove from the fridge then season each side with pepper and salt.

After this, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

And add the hamburger steaks then sear on each side for 3-4 minutes. And set aside.

To make the Gravy for your Hamburger Steak:

Before Melt 2 Tablespoons of butter to the pan and add the onions. Decrease the heat to medium-low. THen Cook for 14 - 20 minutes, until the onions soften then begin to caramelize.

And After all, that, add the chicken broth, beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. And run a silicone spatula along the bottom of the pan to lift up any remnants of meat, and this will give the extra gravy flavour.


Then mix in the cornstarch and cold water until combined. And bring the gravy to a boil and whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Then continue to whisk and decrease the heat to medium.

And add the steaks back to the pan then cover for 11 minutes, or until cooked through. And the internal temperature should be 160 degrees.
