  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla  (extract)
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of sugar (white)
  • 1 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon of white distilled vinegar
  • 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, sifted
  • ½ cup of shortening
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda

Icing:

  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of room-temperature butter
  • 5 tablespoons of flour (all-purpose)

Start by following these directions to prepare this easy red velvet cheesecake:

First, preheat the oven to 350 ℉ (175 degrees C). Then two 9-inch round pans should be greased.

And combine shortening and 1 1/2 cups sugar in a mixing bowl then beat until light and fluffy. And add the eggs then beat them thoroughly.

And combine the cocoa powder and red food coloring in a paste then stir it into the whipped mixture. Combine the salt,  buttermilk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla in a mixing bowl.
