How To Make Garlic Butter Skillet Steak and Shrimp

To make this recipe you'll need the following ingredients:

Ingredients

Garlic Butter:

  •  1 tbsp of chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 tbsp of garlic, minced or pressed
  •  a big pinch of Maldon sea salt plus coarse black pepper
  •  2 tbsp of chopped thyme (or tarragon, or rosemary)
  •  4 tbsp of the softened butter

Steak and Shrimp:

  • New York strip steaks 2 large or 4 small
  • olive oil
  • 2 whole cloves of garlic
  • Salt and pepper
  • 8 ounces of the shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1-2 tbsp of cold butter

Instructions:

Start by combining the garlic, chopped parsley, and butter, then chopped thyme with a generous pinch of pepper and salt in a small bowl.

Next, cover and refrigerate until you’re ready to use it.

First Make sure to remove the steaks from the refrigerator at least 20 minutes before cooking.

Then pat down the steaks with a paper towel, then brush with just a little bit of olive oil on both sides, and generously season your steaks with salt and pepper on both sides, and really rub it in and make sure it sticks.

After all that, heat a large cast-iron skillet over high heat. And add one tablespoon of butter along with roughly one tablespoon of olive oil then allow the oil to heat through.

Add to the pan the steaks with the two whole cloves of garlic, and cook the steaks for roughly 3 to 7 minutes on each side depending on the thickness of the steak and then your preference of doneness.

And when it reaches your desired doneness, remove the steaks to a plate and let them rest for 5-7 minutes.

For the SHRIMP: If you have a ton of grease leftover from the steak, discard most of it, leaving just 1 tablespoon to cook the shrimp in.

Then while the steak is resting, then add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the pan (if you didn’t have much oil left) over medium heat then add the shrimp.

And move them around and season them with salt and pepper. Then cook just long enough for them to curl up into a ‘c’ shape, about 1 – 1½ minutes.

Then when ready to serve, top the shrimp then steak with a generous dollop of the prepared garlic butter, and serve warm with your favorite sides, And enjoy!
