Easy 3 Bean Chili Recipe: HOW TO MAKE



Three-bean chili is great for serving to guests with different dietary preferences and is a splendid way to stretch your budget. Enjoy a bowl as is or use it as a topping for your favorite chili-garnished recipes.

How To Make 3 bean chili recipe


INGREDIENTS

  •  1 cup dry (uncooked) black beans
  •  1 cup dry (uncooked) kidney beans
  •  1 cup dry (uncooked) pinto beans
  •  1 tablespoon cooking oil
  •  1 onion, diced
  •  2 jalapeños, diced, seeded if desired
  •  4 cloves garlic, smashed and sliced
  •  2–3 tablespoons southwestern seasoning
  •  1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  •  3–4 cups vegetable broth or water
  •  One 32-ounce can of tomatoes

Directions

Rinse the beans and combine them in a large stockpot. Cover with water and bring to a boil over high heat.

2. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the beans for 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes, until the beans are tender. Drain and rinse the beans and clean out the stockpot.

Place the oil in the stockpot and set over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the onion and diced jalapeños and cook for 3 minutes.

Add the garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.

Add the cooked beans, seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, vegetable broth, and tomatoes. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and cover, simmering, for 1 hour until all liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
