Coach’s Not-So-Secret Chili recipe is a fast, basic chili that I discovered during a local chili contest I was competing in.


Coach’s Not-So-Secret Chili



I was prepping my ingredients-chopped tomatoes, onions, and peppers-and I put them in a bowl for adding to the pot later while I was preparing the beef.

I tasted the mixture and realized it was a pretty good salsa! Now, whenever someone asks me for a chili recipe, this is what I give them.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound 80% lean ground chuck
  • One 16-ounce jar mild, medium, or hot salsa (use your favorite salsa)
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • Salt, to taste

Directions

In a medium pan, brown the ground chuck and break it apart into crumbles. Drain off the fat if needed.

Add the salsa and chili powder. Stir and simmer for 30 minutes.

Add salt as needed.

Eat it straight or use it as a topping on whatever you like!
