Tomato season means it’s time for a tomato pie!! Renie made my mom’s recipe tonight. Yum!!

How To Make Mary Meyer’s Tomato Pie Recipe


Bake pie crust just until light brown. Be sure to poke lots of holes in the crust and have crust edges over the rim so it doesn’t shrink while baking.

Coat about a cup of shredded cheddar cheese with a tablespoon or two of flour and place in piecrust
Cut about five medium size room temperature tomatoes into wedges and place over cheese.

Sauté onions and one or two cloves of crushed garlic if desired. Spread over tomatoes. Sprinkle Italian seasoning with salt and pepper as desired.


Cover with breadcrumbs. Sprinkle Italian seasoning again.

Bake at 400 or 410 for about 15 to 20 minutes, 

or until crust edges are golden brown

 and tomatoes are soft and cheese is melted underneath.
